I’m a word nerd. I admit it, I love words. I love reading them, writing them, learning new ones. I edit billboards and menus. I can’t help it. A lifetime of writing and editing have ingrained it in me. My pet peeve – using an apostrophe when a word is plural – The dog’s jumped over the moon. – It’s plural not possessive is my rallying cry. I have favorite words like balustrade, skulk and fraught. I’m not sure why, I just like how they fall off my tongue or roll around in my mouth. So what? Well my love of words has translated into a career where I get to work with them every day. I’ve put them together to peddle products from cocktail dresses to coffee makers in catalogs and on websites, described faraway places, told people to hurry now before supplies are gone.
